Own a Brick

The journey of a medical camp that began in 2009 is now a full-fledged multi-speciality polyclinic treating thousands of people. Over a decade ago, the Medical Wing of PAD organized free medical camps on the last Friday of every month serving 300-500 patients across all nationalities. The patients were given free consultations, free diagnostics and free medicines to cater to their medical needs with 27,000 patients treated in 120+ camps. Health screening and awareness sessions were arranged at labor accommodations to cater to our blue-collar community.

Soon after in 2016, Pakistan Association Dubai successfully launched the Own a Brick campaign under the theme ”One Nation, One Dream.” The purpose was to build the largest community centre in the world – the Pakistan Centre – for expatriate Pakistanis; encompassing seminar rooms, a business incubation centre, a sports café, restaurants, a mosque and of course the Pakistan Medical Centre (PMC) which is the GCC’s first not-for-profit healthcare facility and open to serve all nationalities. A total of 17,000 bricks were assigned for the project with each brick being worth AED 1000. The community was encouraged to own a brick/s which automatically made them members of our organization.

A major milestone was reached when the UAE’s Minister of Tolerance H.E. Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan laid the foundation stone of the project in 2017. We dreamt, we saw, and we conquered. With construction of the building beginning in 2018, the medical centre was finally completed and opened to the public in October 2020. Upholding our mission to provide quality healthcare to deserving patients, we were able to impact 15,000 lives from 52 nationalities in our first year of operations across our range of 14 specialties. PMC is also grateful to its volunteer specialists who come from the city’s leading healthcare facilities to contribute their resources to our cause.

The Dar Al Ber Society is the local charity partner of PAD/PMC and the project is supported by Community Development Authority, Government of Dubai.
